Pastor John Yow grew up in Mesquite, Texas outside of Dallas. As a seven year old boy he was asked to ride the church bus and it was the start to a life of knowing he was loved by Jesus, who he accepted into his heart at the age of 10. Just a few short months later, God called Pastor Yow to preach and the burning desire never left.

He went to college and studied at Lone Star Baptist College under its founder, Dr. Larry May. It was during this time he married Mrs. Hannah, who he had grown up in youth department with and dated in college. He graduated from Lone Star Baptist College in 2006. Pastor Yow then stayed at his home church to serve through various ministries.

In 2012, the Yow’s moved from Dallas, to go serve the Victory Baptist Church in Burnet, Texas. Pastor Yow was the assistant pastor here for 6 years. They worked together at this church in the children’s and youth ministries, helped with the missions, as well as both served in the music ministry, bus ministry, and anywhere else there was a need.

In 2018, Pastor Yow accepted the calling of God to move to Mount Pleasant,Texas to become Pastor. Today, he pastors Cornerstone Baptist Church faithfully. Pastor Yow is a “hands-on” pastor being actively involved in the church: counseling marriages and youth, personal visitation and, he has a genuine love for people of all backgrounds and this love is eminently displayed in his passionate preaching and tender heart.

Mrs. Hannah is an active part of this growing church family as a mentor and counselor to the ladies and girls. Pastor Yow has often said, “The joy of his life is that my wife and I get to serve the Lord together and that she loves doing it as much as I do.”
